Dingbee now supports posting to Twitter and Facebook

Posted in News, Updates on August 24th, 2009 by Dingbee – View Comments

Today we’re happy to announce our newest feature: Posting to Twitter and Facebook.

Go to the settings page and set up your posting preferences. For Twitter you’ll be redirected to Twitter for one time authentication. For Facebook you’ll be asked to allow Dingbee to post to Facebook, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be using Facebook Connect for login. Please also remember that we never ask for you Twitter or Facebook passwords.

From now on, on every event you create you will see the posting options.

If for any reason you want to post your events at a later time, you will be seeing a post link in the event view page. You can use this page to post your events.

If you have any questions, we’re here to answer.

Microformat Support on Dingbee

Posted in News, Updates on August 10th, 2009 by Dingbee – View Comments

Today we’re happy to announce that we are adding hCalendar microformat to Dingbee. The idea behind Microformats is very simple: to use information that is already published in a web page and export it to be reusable in other ways. For example Microformats on Dingbee provides you to extract and save all information regarding an event. You can also save the event information to your native or online calendar application easily.

Search engines, including Google and Yahoo, are now indexing microformats and using them in search results. This standardization allows search engines to discover, index, and display better results from Dingbee to their users.

Many sites have been working to integrate Microformats into their systems, however most of the web browsers today do not have built-in support for Microformats. But you can still enjoy its features by using browser plug-ins and bookmarklets until it is widely available. Dingbee from today is ready for Microformats.

This is one of the many other features that we’re working to make Dingbee more useful.

New Event List Widget

Posted in News, Updates on August 3rd, 2009 by Dingbee – View Comments

Hello Everybody,

We’ve been silent for a while, but behind the scenes, a hard-work is going on at Dingbee.

Thanks for all those feedback from people who tried the Dingbee event list widget. Dingbee event list widget has been enhanced and today we’re rolling out a new version. The old one will still be available until January 1st, 2010. We advise everybody to switch to the new version in that period.

The new version is iframe based, and fixes the automatic timezone detection bugs of the old widget. Customization is also different now, since you cant use your CSS in the document.

Head over to the widget page and copy-paste the new code on your page. Also check out the customization information if you’re not using a standard version.

If you still look for help, please shoot your questions to our help pages.

Have a good day!

New features on Dingbee

Posted in News, Updates on July 2nd, 2009 by Dingbee – View Comments

As you might noticed that we’ve been busy adding new features to Dingbee. Whenever someone asks me what we’ve been up to, all we do is smile and say “Just wait”. Today, the wait is over and we can talk about what we’ve been working on. Here are some of the things you’ll now find in Dingbee today:

- iPhone optimized version

You’ll now follow your network while you’re on the move by using your iPhone. We loved using iPhone version of Dingbee. Go ahead and give it a spin.

- 24hr / 12hr and date format

A lot of people, especially fellows from Europe, asked for this feature. Now you’ll be able to add and view events in 24hr or 12hr(am/pm) time formats. You can adjust this under settings/preferences.

- Friend search, find them today!

We’ve just added a friend importer for Google, Yahoo and Facebook. So you can easily find and follow your friends who are already on Dingbee. We are looking forward to extending this feature by adding more services like Hotmail and AOL. Tune in for new updates.

- Better messagging and notifications

We’ve been listening to your feedback and of course, we made a couple of enhancements for messaging and notifications to this release. You’ll see a better interface for your notifications.

- Automatic posting to Facebook

As Facebook released automatic posting (Open Stream API), we included this feature in Dingbee. If you’re using Facebook Connect in Dingbee, your new events will immediately show up in your Facebook profile.

And of course, we’re still working on new features and improvements. As always, please let us know your thoughts and suggestions that you’d like to see in Dingbee. As you spend time on Dingbee, if you find a bug, please let us know.

Dingbee beta is Live!

Posted in News, Updates on May 21st, 2009 by Dingbee – View Comments

Hi Everybody!

Today we are pleased to announce the beta launch of Dingbee, the easiest way to share your events with your friends and allow them to keep up with your life.

Using email, text messages or twitter keeps us connected, however there is no easy way to see what people who matter to us are doing, say, tomorrow or next week.

With Dingbee you can follow your friends’ activities, see who’s playing at your local pub, find out about a buddy who is going hiking for the weekend or discover events relevant to your interests.

For bloggers and event owners, Dingbee provides fully customizable widgets to display their events on their own web sites. Visitors will see those events in their respective timezones even if they don’t have a Dingbee account. More information about embedding can be seen here: http://dingbee.com/tools

Our aim is to make it a snap to find events and share with people.

To get started, sign up to Dingbee for free, or use your Facebook account to sign in immediately.

Also be sure to watch our one-minute introduction video at: http://dingbee.com/tour
